Catholic Colorado Springs Wedding | Kinsey & Sam

Catholic Colorado Springs Wedding | Kinsey & Sam

As a wedding photojournalist, I try to put people at ease and capture all of the moments unfolding in front of me. Kinsey and Sam’s Catholic Colorado Springs wedding was filled with laughter and joy from the moment we arrived. It seemed like someone was always laughing, crying or smiling throughout the day and we were there to document it all. Since Kinsey and Sam were the first of their family and friends to get married it was an especially big day for everyone involved. Kinsey had a strong group of women around her all morning making sure that everything went to plan. Meanwhile, Travis photographed Sam and the guys in a relaxed atmosphere while they got ready for the day. After several rounds of…

Mountain Lake Engagement Near Vail | Laura & Ryan

Mountain Lake Engagement Near Vail | Laura & Ryan

Summertime in the high country rarely disappoints but with all of the snow we got this year everything is especially green and lush. We decided to do their mountain lake engagement near Vail up at Piney Lake. It’s one of the tougher Colorado Engagement Locations to get to but once you make the bumpy 45 minute ride up the dirt road from Vail you’re rewarded with spectacular views of the Gore Range. I’ve enjoyed coming back ever since I photographed a wedding at Piney River Ranch a couple years ago. I was connected with Laura and Ryan through a talented photojournalist colleague and I’m so glad that I was. They have ton of fun together and enjoyed the process. I got a big kick out…

Colorado State Capitol Engagement | Katie & Matt

Colorado State Capitol Engagement | Katie & Matt

This week I met up with Katie and Matt for their Colorado State Capitol engagement session. I always encourage couples to choose a location that’s meaningful to them and since Katie happens to work at the capitol and Matt works in politics it was the perfect place for their photos. We met up at Cap City Tavern for a quick beer before venturing over to the Capitol. I’ve photographed assignments inside the Capitol but I’ve never been there after hours when no one is around. Photography has taken me to some interesting places during my career and this was a unique experience that I’ll always remember. When the rain subsided we walked across the street to Civic Center Park in search of something a little…

Buell Mansion Wedding | Meaghan & Matthew

Buell Mansion Wedding | Meaghan & Matthew

Meaghan and Matthew’s summer Buell Mansion wedding featured everything from scorching heat to torrential downpours but nothing stopped them from having the time of their lives. It’s fairly common for something to go wrong on a wedding day but they had more than their fair share of challenges. No matter what it was, Meaghan and Matthew weren’t focused on anything but each other and their guests. Matthew was so selfless that he got soaked more than once shuttling guests between the mansion and tent through some pretty heavy rain. Meaghan was as calm and collected as they come but seeing as though she’s a doctor, it didn’t surprise me one bit. They made the day completely their own and it was so refreshing to see…

Summer Emerson Fields Wedding | Sienna & Jacob

Summer Emerson Fields Wedding | Sienna & Jacob

Family means everything to me so I was honored when my fianceé Amy’s cousin, Sienna, asked me to photograph her and Jacob’s summer Emerson Fields wedding. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m not a fan of hot and humid conditions but that wasn’t going to stop me from traveling to Excello, Missouri for their big day. Sienna went to grad school here in Colorado so we’ve got to know each other pretty well over many hazy IPAs. It has been a pleasure to provide any insight that I can as she and Jacob planned what turned out to be a banger. From the moment I walked in the room I knew it was going to be a good day. All of the ladies were…

Colorful Downtown Denver Engagement | Ewo & Henry

Colorful Downtown Denver Engagement | Ewo & Henry

Last week I met up with Ewo and Henry for one of the most colorful downtown Denver engagement sessions that I’ve ever done. The light was absolutely magical from start to finish. They were in Denver recently looking at hotels to potentially host their many out of town wedding guests and stumbled upon The Ramble, which they promptly fell in love with. It was the perfect location to begin their engagement photos over a glass of wine. We chatted some about the wedding but Henry had a lovely way of constantly keeping Ewo laughing so I of course had to make a few photos. The bar was busy, hip and an excellent location to share a cocktail with someone you adore, like these two. We…

Summer Brewery Wedding in Denver | Holly & Hayden

Summer Brewery Wedding in Denver | Holly & Hayden

I’ve been looking forward to Holly and Hayden’s summer wedding for quite some time. You may even remember their Fall mountain engagement session from last year. Simply put, they are my kind of people. I have greatly enjoyed getting to know them over the past year. Not only are they hard working, intelligent folks but they also love beer so much that they decided to get married at Briar Common Brewery in the Jefferson Park neighborhood just west of downtown Denver. We get along so well that even one of the Brewery staff thought I was an old college friend of their just based on our interactions together. That’s a compliment I’ll gladly accept. While I was with the ladies, Travis started the day with Hayden…

Summer Engagement in Evergreen | Meaghan & Matthew

Summer Engagement in Evergreen | Meaghan & Matthew

This week I met up with Meaghan and Matthew for their summer engagement in Evergreen. We started their session by hiking up to Maxwell Falls. Thankfully the spring runoff wasn’t out of control and we were able to climb right up to the waterfall. Meaghan didn’t think twice when I asked her to put her feet in the ice cold water. The rain held off until we got back to the car for a quick change before drizzling on us the the better part of an hour. The sun finally came out and we were treated to a faint rainbow over the ridge. Matthew and Meaghan were so cute during the session that I hardly had to give them direction. It’s a treat to work…

Snowy Winter Mountain Engagement | Grace & David

Snowy Winter Mountain Engagement | Grace & David

Earlier this month I ventured up to Rocky Mountain National Park for meet Grace and David for their engagement session. They have spent lots of time in the park so it was a sentimental choice to spend the day there. It’s a huge place so David suggested meeting at Bear Lake and doing some hiking in search of great vantage points. Were having an unusually wet spring here and the area had just received a fresh snowfall which made for some gorgeous scenery. We started the session at Bear Lake before making the challenging and slippery ascent up to a lookout above Nymph Lake. The hard-packed snowy and icy trail forced us to move slowly but we managed to climb to some great places as…

Winter Keystone Engagement | Jessica and Mike

Winter Keystone Engagement | Jessica and Mike

Last weekend I met Jessica and Mike up in a snow covered Summit County for their winter Keystone engagement. The area has been receiving epic amounts of snow all March long so we hoped that it would look like a winter wonderland and it absolutely did. We shared a beer at The Baker’s Brewery in Silverthorne before driving east in search of spectacular views. We arrived to find several feet of snow blanketing the area which made for a challenging adventure but some great moments along the way. Jessica and Mike were so much fun to photograph because they embraced everything about the experience. They laughed throughout the day, often as I sank thigh deep in the snow. I especially loved her red wool coat…
