Winter Brainard Lake Engagement | Meagan & Aaron

Winter Brainard Lake Engagement | Meagan & Aaron

It was quite cold and snowy for Meagan and Aaron’s winter Brainard Lake engagement session but that didn’t stop them from having fun together. The winter months in Colorado can be unpredictable so I was glad we didn’t encounter adverse conditions in the mountains. I met up with Aaron and Meagan down in Nederland for a drink at James Peak before venturing up to Brainard Lake Recreation Area. Despite the six inches of snow on the ground, they both had no problem tromping around in search of the best spots. After spending 20 minutes or so near the parking lot, we hiked up the service road to the Red Rock lake. There wasn’t anyone around but us and the freshly snow covered ice created a…

Rustic Barn Engagement | Kinsey & Sam

Rustic Barn Engagement | Kinsey & Sam

Last week Kinsey messaged me and asked if we could change their session location to their family farm in Boulder County. I’m always looking to do things differently so I thought it was a great idea. Not only was their farm sentimental but it would achieve the rustic barn engagement photos that they were after. I’ve photographed a wedding in a barn, but never an engagement session. I joined them and Kinsey’s mom at Avery Brewing for a beer before they led the way to the property that was about 10 minutes up the road. We had some great light for the first part of the session in and around the historic A.M. Dodd & Sons barn that has been in their family forever. After…

2018 in Review | Behind the Scenes

2018 in Review | Behind the Scenes

The past year was easily the most challenging and rewarding that I’ve had in my career. I chose to focus more of my energy towards my wedding work and it paid off for both my clients and myself. The couples that I worked with this year were incredible. They trusted me with some wild ideas for images and it all paid off in the end. Below you’ll find some images from “behind the scenes.” This should help provide a glimpse into not only what it takes to make outstanding images, but also the extra things that we do to help create a fantastic customer experience on the wedding day. Couples have been raving about their experiences and nothing could make me happier as a small…

Madison at the Mill Wedding | Ashley & Richie

Madison at the Mill Wedding | Ashley & Richie

I’ve been fortunate enough to be friends with Ashley for more than 12 years since we met during a semester abroad in Rome, Italy. When I departed for that trip I had no idea that it would change my life and career path. I picked up a camera while I was there and haven’t put one down since thanks to people like Ashley who encouraged me along the way. When she asked me to photograph her and Richie’s Madison at the Mill wedding I was honored to do so. Richie waited for Ashley while she explored the world and even traveled great distances to see her so before I ever met him I had an immense amount of respect for him. Having only drank a…

Albuquerque Greek Orthodox Wedding | Nicole and Demetris

Albuquerque Greek Orthodox Wedding | Nicole and Demetris

Back in October, I traveled down to New Mexico for Demetris and Nicole’s Albuquerque Greek Orthodox wedding. I’ve photographed so many Greek weddings at this point that I’m starting to feel like part of the family. Several guests and past clients are often at each Greek wedding that I photograph and this one was no different. I shot Nicole’s cousin Constance’s wedding eight years ago and she served as the Koumbara for Nicole. I started my morning with the ladies as they got ready at Nicole’s parent’s house. Meanwhile, Travis photographed Demetris as he participated in many of the Cypriot wedding traditions at his home like bring shaved and wrapping of the red scarf. The ceremony took place at Albuquerque’s Saint George Greek Orthodox Church which…

Fall Frisco Engagement | Julia & Micah

Fall Frisco Engagement | Julia & Micah

In a rare showing, Julia and Micah’s fall Frisco engagement featured gorgeous fall colors and a snowy winter wonderland atop Shrine Pass. They’re both in grad school in Nashville and traveled out to Colorado for their session so I’m glad that the weather worked out. It’s not often that a session has two completely different feels but theirs definitely did. We met up in Frisco before venturing over to a few locations that had the last remaining golden aspen trees in the area. Our next stop required all wheel drive so they hopped in my car for the journey up Shrine Pass near Vail. The area was recently blanketed by the first major snow of the season but that didn’t stop them from embracing the elements….

Persian Wedding in Colorado Springs | Shabnam & Joseph

Persian Wedding in Colorado Springs | Shabnam & Joseph

It was an absolute pleasure to be part of Shabnam and Joseph’s Garden of the Gods Resort wedding. I have photographed a LOT of weddings and these two might be the most genuine people I’ve ever worked with. I feel like Joseph can talk to anyone about anything. Shabnam looks you in the eye and listens, actually listens, to what you have to say. They’re the type of human beings that we all hope our children grow up to be like. After meeting their parents and spending such an emotional day with them, I can see where they get it from. I’m a wedding photojournalist and while the service that I provide is important, it feels like so much more than that when I get…

Dimitra & George’s Greek Wedding in Denver

Dimitra & George’s Greek Wedding in Denver

Dimitra and George’s Greek wedding in Denver was one of the most energy packed days that I’ve shot in a while. I’ve photographed so many greek weddings over the years that I’m always excited to see past couples and their families. I feel like an insider at this point and to an extent, I believe that helps me capture more moments. While I was laughing my ass off with Dimitra and the ladies at Halcyon Denver, Dan was a couple floors down photographing George and the guys hanging out. These two completely enjoyed their day from the moment it started and the images reflect that. Congratulations you two and thanks for allowing us to document your day at the Assumption of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox…

Fall Mountain Engagement Photos | Holly & Hayden

Fall Mountain Engagement Photos | Holly & Hayden

The weather and fall color in the mountains is often unpredictable so it wasn’t surprising that we were rained out of our first attempt for their session. Despite more finicky weather on our second attempt, in true Colorado fashion, we experienced nearly all four seasons in one day for Holly and Hayden’s fall mountain engagement photos. Shooting during the fall colors season in the Colorado high country is my favorite so I’m glad that everything worked out for us. I had been paying attention to the fall foliage map since the color changed earlier this year because the mountains experienced a drought last winter. We met up at Outer Range Brewing for a beer before venturing over to a nearby aspen grove that was in…

Fall Blackstone Rivers Ranch Wedding | Kate & Brian

Fall Blackstone Rivers Ranch Wedding | Kate & Brian

Kate and Brian’s fall Blackstone Rivers Ranch wedding was full of rustic elegance and a fantastic setting for many of their out of town guests. I’ve been looking forward to this one since their spring Golden Gate Canyon engagement from earlier this year. While I was with the ladies, Anya was just down the hall photographing the guys getting ready. I love the fact that there are equally gorgeous spaces for both a bride and groom at the venue. After finishing touches, we drove nine miles up the road to Echo Lake for first look. While we were up there, their dog Koda joined us for a few portraits. Their outdoor ceremony at Blackstone Rivers Ranch beautifully captured both their faith and a love for…
