COLORADO WEDIDNG PHOTOGRAPHY

SERVICES + INFO

our approach for weddings

By now you’re probably realizing that there’s a huge variety in Colorado wedding photographers. When you work with us, you can count on personalized attention, a stress-free experience and, of course, breathtaking photos that allow you to relive your favorite moments forever. So what differentiates Justin Edmonds Photography?

Real wedding photojournalism

You’re probably here because you want your images to feel natural and not posed. You want your wedding images to help you remember the moments, big and small, that happened during your day. Great, that’s what we want to capture for you. By creating rapport with not only the two of you, but also your family and friends, everyone becomes more comfortable with our presence and will naturally focus on enjoying the day rather than pulling their phones out or posing for pictures.

My entire approach is built on my yearly two decade background in photojournalism. Real wedding photojournalism is more than just a trendy style. I got my start working as a photojournalist for newspapers and wire services like The New York Times and Getty Images (to name a few) and it’s influenced everything about how I cover weddings. You can read more about how we tell stories, anticipate moments, put people at ease and are prepared for anything here.

Two photographers, always

We shoot every wedding day with two photographers. To be clear, my second photographers aren’t just assistants, a student or a spouse with a camera – they’re experienced professionals with similar backgrounds and share my documentary approach. Having two photographers lets us capture both the action (you walking down the aisle) and the reaction (the look on their face). It also lets us be in two places at the same time, for example, if you’re getting ready in different locations.

Full day coverage

When I began photographing weddings, I brought the photojournalism mantra of “get there early, and stay late,” to our coverage approach. When covering news events, often the most interesting moments (and photos) came in the times before or after the main event. I thought it only natural to show up for all the hair, makeup and getting ready activities. And I never left after toasts or first dances – the party is part of the story too.

Eventually, I noticed that most other photographers were pricing their wedding photography packages in hourly bundles. This never really made sense to me. First, I want to be able to tell the whole story of your day and there’s just no way to do that if I’m not there for it. Second, I don’t expect couples to know their full timelines a year in advance. Couples will often underestimate or try to fit everything into the photographer’s limited time window. I want you to plan your day without worrying whether I’ll be there to capture it.

We’ll arrive when you’re getting ready and stay through 90 minutes of the dance party. We also offer unlimited reception coverage for couples who want every second of the party captured.

what does full day coverage mean?

When I began photographing weddings more than 17 years ago, I brought the photojournalism mantra of “get there early, and stay late,” to my coverage approach. When covering news events, often the most interesting moments (and photos) came in the times before or after the main event. I thought it only natural to show up for all the hair, makeup and getting ready activities. And I never left after toasts or first dances – the party is part of the story too.

Dependable communication

I know how challenging planning a wedding can be since my wife and I just got married in October of 2023. Questions come up and sometimes your vendors are the ones with the answers. I strive to provide both helpful and timely communication with every couple that I work with.

Help with building the timeline

Let me be clear, your wedding day is a life changing event, not a photoshoot. If you’re able to enjoy your day, free from stress then the moments that we capture take care of themselves. Because we’re there for the entire day, we know the times during the day that can be the most problematic and we help you identify those as well as do our best to eliminate them all together. We’ll work together to create a timeline that allows you plenty of time to cry, laugh, hug, smile and dance while also being conscious that you’ll probably want an epic portrait at sunset as well.

And finally, I can only photograph one wedding a day. Once I’m booked for a Saturday, even if it’s just a few hours, I can’t schedule another wedding. So it only makes sense to set everyone up for success and plan to be there for the full day.

In almost every case, a full wedding day timeline in Colorado is 10+ hours. So I say “up to 10 hours” as a reasonable starting point and include that in all wedding photography collections. But if you know you’re doing a special exit at the end of the night or are planning an especially long day, just let me know and we’ll work together to make sure we’re there.

Sneak peeks

I know the excitement to see your images exists so I’ll send a few images to your inbox or post some on Instagram for you to see a few days after the wedding.

Quick turnaround of about 4 weeks

My background in photojournalism helped me develop the technical skills to deliver quality images, quickly. All of the images that you receive are carefully selected, color corrected, toned to reflect a true to life color, and delivered in high-resolution in about four weeks after your wedding. You’ll typically receive 800-1000+ images from your wedding that tell the complete story of the day.

Gallery to share with friends and family

Every couple receives their images in an online gallery that is password protected so you can choose to share your images with exactly who you want. You’ll also receive a download pin so you can also control who can download the high-resolution images.

Assistance with wall art and photo albums

Your images shouldn’t just live on your computer or phone. Physically displaying your images on your walls or in an album is a great way to showcase your wedding day. You’ll receive a print release with your images so you can make your own prints. If you’re looking to showcase your images in a more substantial way, and you should, let me create an album from scratch or guide you through the options of hanging canvas or fine art prints in your home.

Weddings on peak dates and holidays and weddings with extensive travel (usually involving flights or hotel stays) may be priced higher. Contact us for detailed pricing information.

Absolutely. Several of my weddings each year are actually outside of Colorado. In most cases, there’s no additional fees for travel outside of actual costs (flight, hotel, etc).

This can vary depending on the specifics of your day, but most couples should expect between 800 and 1000+ images. We’ve found that is the sweet spot for making sure everything is covered, without being redundant.

During peak times our average turnaround time is around 4 weeks. We process every image personally, to the same high quality standards you see throughout this site. We often post a preview first and sneak peaks on our instagram page.

You’ll get a password-protected gallery that you can share with friends and family. You will also get a 4-digit PIN code that can be used to download the photos individually or as full set.

Yes. We believe part of what makes our work special is the editing process so we don’t outsource. Everything is processed to be consistent with the color and quality you see on our site.

We suggest reaching out as soon as possible. In some cases, we begin working with couples before they have booked their venues or have an official date. We tend to book 12-18 months in advance.

When you’re ready to book your date, I’ll send a digital invoice and agreement. You can pay the booking fee ($1,500) via secure online payment system. The balance is due 30 days before your wedding date.

Yes, it’s super convenient to order prints directly through the online gallery. They’ll come from a pro print lab, on archival lustre paper. We don’t believe in crazy markups (we want to be paid to create beautiful images of your day, not for the paper they’re printed on.) Seriously, our print prices start at $6. If a print fades or is damaged, you can always make a perfect reprint from your original files.

First, contact us using the form below. If we’re available for your date, we’ll follow up with a time to connect with you so we can learn more about your wedding and answer any questions you have. If we’re a good fit, you can pay the booking fee and sign the agreement digitally. Once I have those two items your date is officially reserved!
