Colorado Mountain Lake Engagement | Kara & Moypa

Colorado Mountain Lake Engagement | Kara & Moypa

Kara and Moypa traveled in from out of state for their photos and after talking with her sister they settled on a Colorado mountain lake engagement at St. Mary’s Glacier. I met up with them a few weeks back for the adventurous afternoon up the trail to the glacier. We experienced everything from sideways blowing rain to sunshine and calm winds over the course of a couple hours. They were open to just about everything and didn’t even flinch when I asked them to get into the ice cold mountain lake water. We explored all of the nearby area from windblown trees to a gorgeous grove of wildflowers. It was a quiet evening and we only ran into a few other groups of hikers which…

Micro Mountain Wedding in Colorado | Mel and Drew

Micro Mountain Wedding in Colorado | Mel and Drew

Mel and Drew are like almost all of my couples their year. They had to postpone their big day to next year so they opted for a micro mountain wedding in Colorado’s high country said “I do” on their date. Their parents, Mel’s brother and his fiancee joined the officiant and his wife at Clinton Gulch Dam Reservoir for the intimate ceremony. They had an ecstatic first look. I love their energy and love for one another and I’m not just saying that to make this blog post sound good. They are so happy together. I experienced it first hand at their fall engagement session at Maroon Bells. Amy and I had a blast with them back then and we can’t wait to get out…

Colorado Mountain House Elopement | Marla & Chris

Colorado Mountain House Elopement | Marla & Chris

Five years ago I was asked last minute (literally two hours notice) to fill in on a soccer team headed to Crested Butte for a weekend tournament. I didn’t know a soul on the team and got in a car with a couple of complete strangers bound for the mountains and a new adventure. Looking back, it was a little crazy I knew it would be a story someday so I just went with it. Marla and Chris happened to be on the team. Though they weren’t officially dating at the time we could all tell that the chemistry between the two of them was there. Fast forward to 2020 and we all know how the story goes at this point. Their East Coast wedding…

Colorful Colorado Wildflower Engagement | Courtney & Mike

Colorful Colorado Wildflower Engagement | Courtney & Mike

When we made plans for Courtney and Mike’s session they said they were up for whatever. It was the perfect time to explore more of Shrine Pass for their colorful Colorado wildflower engagement. They’ve had to reschedule their wedding TWICE because of the pandemic so I wanted to go an extra mile (or 4.5, so we found out) for them. They had great energy from the moment Travis and I arrived and I’m sure some of that can be attributed to a few adult beverages. I typically meet couples at a brewery or bar to start so even in an unusual year things got off to the typical start. The wildflowers were absolutely insane. Every color of the rainbow covered the hillside. Nature is great…

Mountain elopement at Brainard Lake | Cecelia & Jamie

Mountain elopement at Brainard Lake | Cecelia & Jamie

Cecelia and Jamie decided to get married and have a mountain elopement at Brainard Lake since their wedding had to be postponed this year. Like myself, they enjoy the mountains so Brainard Lake was a no brainer. The area has gorgeous views, a mountain lake and quiet forests which all make for the perfect backdrop. I’ve photographed couples here in the winter but this was my first trip to Brainard during the summer months. Although it was overcast, the backdrop was still beautiful. I had a great time exploring the different places around the lake with these two and look forward to their wedding. Congratulations Cecelia and Jamie!

Colorado Mountain Ranch Wedding | Laura & Ryan

Colorado Mountain Ranch Wedding | Laura & Ryan

Laura and Ryan got married earlier this month at the beautiful and rustic 4 Eagle Ranch in Wolcott just outside of Vail. It’s been an unusual year to say the least so it was great to get back to work, if only briefly, to capture their incredible day. I’ve enjoyed working with them from the start. They brought beer, chips and an avocado to share during their mountain lake engagement session last summer. We had a blast. Simply put, they’re great people and despite the pandemic I was going to do everything I could to document their day as it unfolded. It was different but the same in so many ways. I was glad that Michael could join me to help photograph the wedding and…

Iconic Engagement in Denver | Mesha & Joe

Iconic Engagement in Denver | Mesha & Joe

My dad is a talker. So naturally when he was in the hospital for minor spine surgery a couple months ago he told the nurses and doctors all about his family. Mesha, one of his nurses, happened to be engaged and reached out to me about her and Joe’s wedding this fall. I’m grateful for the care he had while he was there and thrilled that I’ll be able to return the favor for their wedding this year. For their engagement session we met up at Improper City, just north of downtown, to start the afternoon with a drink. Mesha and Joe have a natural, easy going chemistry that I vibe with really well. We were having such a good time that we almost didn’t want…

Winter engagement in Breckenridge | Cassidy and Shane

Winter engagement in Breckenridge | Cassidy and Shane

Ever since Cassidy and Shane got engaged on an island in the Pacific they have been looking forward to photos in the mountains. After looking through my engagement location guide, they thought that a winter engagement in Breckenridge would be exactly what they wanted. We met up at Breckenridge Brewery for a drink to get to know each other before the session. I had a wonderful time chatting with them about a multitude of things before we drove up to Sawmill Reservoir to start their session. Breckenridge resort had their snowiest February on record so it was a little tough hiking through all the fresh snowfall but it was gorgeous and quiet so we couldn’t complain. After the sun started to dip we made the…

Honored by the Wedding Photojournalist Association

Honored by the Wedding Photojournalist Association

Capturing moments on a wedding day is something that as a wedding photojournalist I believe is the most important part of my job. I’m there to document the day for my clients and their families so that they can relive it all for years to come. I want couples to love their images but it’s also nice to be recognized by the industry, specifically the Wedding Photojournalist Association. The organization has strict standards and ethics which is a big reason why I choose to surround myself with like minded peers in the industry. Each year the WPJA recognizes the top wedding photojournalists in the world based on the moments they captured throughout the year and I was fortunate to be included in that list. As…

Colorful Greek Wedding in Denver | Ioanna & Alex

Colorful Greek Wedding in Denver | Ioanna & Alex

When Ioanna reached out to me about her and Alex’s wedding she mentioned that one of her close friends passed my name along to her. The thing was, I didn’t actually photograph Vanna’s wedding. After connecting with me, Wanna eventually decided to hire someone else but encouraged Ioanna to contact me when she was looking for a photographer for her wedding. When Ioanna told me this story, it really stuck with me that I could have such a strong impact on someone who didn’t actually hire me. I was incredibly touched by this gesture. Over the course of the year we connected several times about the wedding and with each detail revealed my excitement for the day grew. I’ve done tons of Greek weddings over…
