Mel and Drew are like almost all of my couples their year. They had to postpone their big day to next year so they opted for a micro mountain wedding in Colorado’s high country said “I do” on their date. Their parents, Mel’s brother and his fiancee joined the officiant and his wife at Clinton Gulch Dam Reservoir for the intimate ceremony.
They had an ecstatic first look. I love their energy and love for one another and I’m not just saying that to make this blog post sound good. They are so happy together. I experienced it first hand at their fall engagement session at Maroon Bells. Amy and I had a blast with them back then and we can’t wait to get out on the golf course with them soon.
Mel was there for one reason only, to marry Drew. She didn’t need to walk down the aisle. She didn’t even mind that there were people fly fishing 20 yards away. Before their families, they expressed their devotion to one another and made it official. The pure, raw emotion out of them was incredible to witness.
Afterward the three of us ventured around capturing a few portraits. The wildfire smoke and haze wasn’t as bad as other parts of the state but it was clearly impacting the crisp, vivid colors that I’m used to capturing in the state of Colorado.
The countdown is on for their big celebration next August. It’s going to be a banger and I can’t wait.
