Laura and Ryan got married earlier this month at the beautiful and rustic 4 Eagle Ranch in Wolcott just outside of Vail. It’s been an unusual year to say the least so it was great to get back to work, if only briefly, to capture their incredible day. I’ve enjoyed working with them from the start. They brought beer, chips and an avocado to share during their mountain lake engagement session last summer. We had a blast. Simply put, they’re great people and despite the pandemic I was going to do everything I could to document their day as it unfolded. It was different but the same in so many ways.
I was glad that Michael could join me to help photograph the wedding and while I joined Laura as she got ready, Michael was just a short walk away with Ryan and the rest of the guys. It was a gorgeous day on the ranch that was filled with laughter, tears, libations and even a handful of horses. During their portrait session at golden hour, a few horses snuck up on us to check things out. It’s something I’ve never experience on a wedding day and it was a treat to capture something unique to their day.
This might end up being the only wedding that I photograph the rest of the year and if so I’m glad that it was Ryan and Laura’s. Their Colorado mountain ranch wedding was one for history in more ways than one. Congratulations you two, it was a joy and a pleasure.
