As a wedding photojournalist, I try to put people at ease and capture all of the moments unfolding in front of me. Kinsey and Sam’s Catholic Colorado Springs wedding was filled with laughter and joy from the moment we arrived. It seemed like someone was always laughing, crying or smiling throughout the day and we were there to document it all. Since Kinsey and Sam were the first of their family and friends to get married it was an especially big day for everyone involved. Kinsey had a strong group of women around her all morning making sure that everything went to plan. Meanwhile, Travis photographed Sam and the guys in a relaxed atmosphere while they got ready for the day.
After several rounds of laughter and tears, Kinsey hiked up her dress and climbed into her huge truck to ride to the church with her parents. I loved watching the bridesmaids pull up at a stop light singing “Chapel of Love” just before we arrived at St. Mary’s Cathedral for their wedding mass.
After the ceremony we headed over to The Broadmoor for photos with the wedding party as well as portraits with Kinsey and Sam. I completed a huge photo project at The Broadmoor for The Gazette when I interned there over a decade ago so it was neat to be back on the property. Kinsey and Sam’s reception took place just up the road at The Broadmoor’s Cheyenne Lodge. The views of downtown Colorado Springs and surrounding Cheyenne Mountain were stunning. Friends and family shared hilarious stories and Sam tore up the dance floor all night along with all their guests.
Congratulations Kinsey and Sam, it was a pleasure to be a small part of your wedding day. I hope you’re enjoying your time in Europe!
