This week I met up with Katie and Matt for their Colorado State Capitol engagement session. I always encourage couples to choose a location that’s meaningful to them and since Katie happens to work at the capitol and Matt works in politics it was the perfect place for their photos. We met up at Cap City Tavern for a quick beer before venturing over to the Capitol. I’ve photographed assignments inside the Capitol but I’ve never been there after hours when no one is around. Photography has taken me to some interesting places during my career and this was a unique experience that I’ll always remember.
When the rain subsided we walked across the street to Civic Center Park in search of something a little different. The flowers were in full bloom and the park was relatively quiet which allowed us to shoot in several different locations. The sun finally came out and lit up the iconic cash register building just before we left which made for a great image as they posed in the park’s Greek amphitheater.
After a quick change of clothes we ended their session at Union Station during twilight. I had a lovely time with them both during their Colorado State Capitol engagement and am looking forward to their huge wedding at City Park next month!
