Colorful Downtown Denver Engagement | Ewo & Henry

Colorful Downtown Denver Engagement | Ewo & Henry

Last week I met up with Ewo and Henry for one of the most colorful downtown Denver engagement sessions that I’ve ever done. The light was absolutely magical from start to finish. They were in Denver recently looking at hotels to potentially host their many out of town wedding guests and stumbled upon The Ramble, which they promptly fell in love with. It was the perfect location to begin their engagement photos over a glass of wine. We chatted some about the wedding but Henry had a lovely way of constantly keeping Ewo laughing so I of course had to make a few photos. The bar was busy, hip and an excellent location to share a cocktail with someone you adore, like these two. We…

Summer Engagement in Evergreen | Meaghan & Matthew

Summer Engagement in Evergreen | Meaghan & Matthew

This week I met up with Meaghan and Matthew for their summer engagement in Evergreen. We started their session by hiking up to Maxwell Falls. Thankfully the spring runoff wasn’t out of control and we were able to climb right up to the waterfall. Meaghan didn’t think twice when I asked her to put her feet in the ice cold water. The rain held off until we got back to the car for a quick change before drizzling on us the the better part of an hour. The sun finally came out and we were treated to a faint rainbow over the ridge. Matthew and Meaghan were so cute during the session that I hardly had to give them direction. It’s a treat to work…

Snowy Winter Mountain Engagement | Grace & David

Snowy Winter Mountain Engagement | Grace & David

Earlier this month I ventured up to Rocky Mountain National Park for meet Grace and David for their engagement session. They have spent lots of time in the park so it was a sentimental choice to spend the day there. It’s a huge place so David suggested meeting at Bear Lake and doing some hiking in search of great vantage points. Were having an unusually wet spring here and the area had just received a fresh snowfall which made for some gorgeous scenery. We started the session at Bear Lake before making the challenging and slippery ascent up to a lookout above Nymph Lake. The hard-packed snowy and icy trail forced us to move slowly but we managed to climb to some great places as…

Winter Keystone Engagement | Jessica and Mike

Winter Keystone Engagement | Jessica and Mike

Last weekend I met Jessica and Mike up in a snow covered Summit County for their winter Keystone engagement. The area has been receiving epic amounts of snow all March long so we hoped that it would look like a winter wonderland and it absolutely did. We shared a beer at The Baker’s Brewery in Silverthorne before driving east in search of spectacular views. We arrived to find several feet of snow blanketing the area which made for a challenging adventure but some great moments along the way. Jessica and Mike were so much fun to photograph because they embraced everything about the experience. They laughed throughout the day, often as I sank thigh deep in the snow. I especially loved her red wool coat…

Winter Brainard Lake Engagement | Meagan & Aaron

Winter Brainard Lake Engagement | Meagan & Aaron

It was quite cold and snowy for Meagan and Aaron’s winter Brainard Lake engagement session but that didn’t stop them from having fun together. The winter months in Colorado can be unpredictable so I was glad we didn’t encounter adverse conditions in the mountains. I met up with Aaron and Meagan down in Nederland for a drink at James Peak before venturing up to Brainard Lake Recreation Area. Despite the six inches of snow on the ground, they both had no problem tromping around in search of the best spots. After spending 20 minutes or so near the parking lot, we hiked up the service road to the Red Rock lake. There wasn’t anyone around but us and the freshly snow covered ice created a…

Rustic Barn Engagement | Kinsey & Sam

Rustic Barn Engagement | Kinsey & Sam

Last week Kinsey messaged me and asked if we could change their session location to their family farm in Boulder County. I’m always looking to do things differently so I thought it was a great idea. Not only was their farm sentimental but it would achieve the rustic barn engagement photos that they were after. I’ve photographed a wedding in a barn, but never an engagement session. I joined them and Kinsey’s mom at Avery Brewing for a beer before they led the way to the property that was about 10 minutes up the road. We had some great light for the first part of the session in and around the historic A.M. Dodd & Sons barn that has been in their family forever. After…

Fall Frisco Engagement | Julia & Micah

Fall Frisco Engagement | Julia & Micah

In a rare showing, Julia and Micah’s fall Frisco engagement featured gorgeous fall colors and a snowy winter wonderland atop Shrine Pass. They’re both in grad school in Nashville and traveled out to Colorado for their session so I’m glad that the weather worked out. It’s not often that a session has two completely different feels but theirs definitely did. We met up in Frisco before venturing over to a few locations that had the last remaining golden aspen trees in the area. Our next stop required all wheel drive so they hopped in my car for the journey up Shrine Pass near Vail. The area was recently blanketed by the first major snow of the season but that didn’t stop them from embracing the elements….

Fall Mountain Engagement Photos | Holly & Hayden

Fall Mountain Engagement Photos | Holly & Hayden

The weather and fall color in the mountains is often unpredictable so it wasn’t surprising that we were rained out of our first attempt for their session. Despite more finicky weather on our second attempt, in true Colorado fashion, we experienced nearly all four seasons in one day for Holly and Hayden’s fall mountain engagement photos. Shooting during the fall colors season in the Colorado high country is my favorite so I’m glad that everything worked out for us. I had been paying attention to the fall foliage map since the color changed earlier this year because the mountains experienced a drought last winter. We met up at Outer Range Brewing for a beer before venturing over to a nearby aspen grove that was in…

Fall Piney Lake Engagement in Vail | Caroline & Brendan

Fall Piney Lake Engagement in Vail | Caroline & Brendan

If you’ve never seen the Gore Range from Piney Lake, it should be on your Colorado bucket list. For that reason alone, I was excited when Caroline and Brendan asked me to shoot their fall Piney Lake engagement in Vail. Located about 40 minutes North of the town of Vail up a logging road, it may be a bumpy ride but the view alone is worth the adventure. I haven’t been back since I photographed this wedding at the ranch and fall is the perfect time to visit. Caroline and Brendan are getting married out of state and since they love the mountains and water, we knew this would be an ideal location for their engagement photos. We shared a beer on the deck before venturing…

Wilderness Engagement | Laura & Mack

Wilderness Engagement | Laura & Mack

Laura and Mack spend as much time as possible in the mountains so I knew their Shrine Pass engagement would be a ton of fun. We met up at Outer Range to catch up and have a beer before we got started. I thought that the dense smoke from the California wildfires would prevent us from seeing any of the mountains so we stopped at Officers Gulch on our way to Shrine. The water was calm and made for some lovely reflection images. Laura and Mack were so easygoing that everything felt natural throughout the entire session. We explored some new locations on Shrine Pass together that ended up paying off big time. It’s amazing what you can find when you explore of the beaten…
