Fall Piney Lake Engagement in Vail | Caroline & Brendan

If you’ve never seen the Gore Range from Piney Lake, it should be on your Colorado bucket list. For that reason alone, I was excited when Caroline and Brendan asked me to shoot their fall Piney Lake engagement in Vail. Located about 40 minutes North of the town of Vail up a logging road, it may be a bumpy ride but the view alone is worth the adventure. I haven’t been back since I photographed this wedding at the ranch and fall is the perfect time to visit.

Caroline and Brendan are getting married out of state and since they love the mountains and water, we knew this would be an ideal location for their engagement photos. We shared a beer on the deck before venturing up the trail past the lake. It was a picture perfect, Colorado bluebird day and with the aspen trees changing color you couldn’t ask for much more.

We had a great time shooting everywhere from the aspen grove to the edge of the lake where it flows into Piney River. Thankfully we managed to avoid the moose herd that calls the area home. Just before the sun disappeared, we made a few photos on the boat dock as the still lake provided a gorgeous reflection. I hope you enjoy the photos from their fall Piney River Ranch engagement in Vail. I plan to be back sooner rather than later.

Allison and Walker’s Lynn Britt Cabin wedding in Snowmass Village was a blast to shoot. Walker works for Microsoft and Allison is working on a PhD in Seattle so it was a destination wedding for everyone involved. Walker has been to Aspen a ton to ski and convinced Allison that it would make the perfect fall wedding location. I started with the ladies and my good friend Dustin held down the fort with the guys. It was important for Allison to incorporate some of her heritage and family traditions in the wedding so I got to experience my first Chinese tea ceremony. The bride and groom each take turns serving tea to many of their family members in exchange for words of wisdom. It was…

  • Rembrandt Yard fall wedding | Megan and Bryan | Boulder

Megan and Bryan’s Rembrandt Yard fall wedding was the perfect culmination of their relationship because after meeting many years ago at the University of Colorado in Boulder they returned to where it all began to make things official. Surrounded by friends and family from around the country and beyond, they shared their vows together in front of a thousand hand folded paper cranes with the Flatirons visible through the huge picture windows on the third floor of Rembrandt Yard. I knew what to expect at this fantastic space because I photographer another wedding at Rembrandt Yard wedding earlier this season. When I met with them earlier this year for the first time I knew that they would be one of my favorite couples of the year because they…
