Megan and Bryan’s Rembrandt Yard fall wedding was the perfect culmination of their relationship because after meeting many years ago at the University of Colorado in Boulder they returned to where it all began to make things official. Surrounded by friends and family from around the country and beyond, they shared their vows together in front of a thousand hand folded paper cranes with the Flatirons visible through the huge picture windows on the third floor of Rembrandt Yard. I knew what to expect at this fantastic space because I photographer another wedding at Rembrandt Yard wedding earlier this season.
When I met with them earlier this year for the first time I knew that they would be one of my favorite couples of the year because they were passionate about photography and completely trusted me to execute my vision in a way that would leave a lasting impression for generations of their family. I always have detailed conversations with the couples that I work with but Megan and Bryan listened far more than they spoke. They asked intelligent questions and trusted the answers that I provided would lead to great images from their day and it did. I’m trilled to have been able to document such a wonderful day with Travis by my side. He started with the gentlemen at the St. Julien Hotel while I was with the bridal brigade at an Airbnb rental down the street in Boulder.
Since they met as students at CU it only seemed fitting for their first look to be on campus along the bridge at Varsity Lake. The excitement poured out of each of them when they caught a glimpse of one another. It was finally real.
We walked through campus past Old Main, Mackey Auditorium and Norlin Quad for a few photos with them and also the wedding party before it was time to head over to Rembrandt Yard for the ceremony. I mentioned it earlier but I would be remised if I didn’t acknowledge all the hard work that Megan’s mother put into folding a thousand paper cranes for good luck. It was a perfect addition to the space and made it their own. The images from the ceremony were full of joy, elation and laughter from nearly everyone in attendance but Megan made sure everyone knew how she felt when she screamed and put her bouquet in the air to celebrate making things official.
After the ceremony we chased the light up the canyon to Centennial Trailhead and then to a couple secret spots of mine just before the sun finally disappeared. The fall color on the leaves was vibrant and added the perfect feel to help tell the story of their day.
Later friends and family shared stories of Megan and Bryan and the funniest thing that I learned was that they shared their first kiss together once upon a time with eventual Maid of Honor Asha sitting between them. That had to be awkward for Asha at the time but it made for the perfect story and toast. The highlight of the night however was watching Bryan perform a song he had written for Megan on the guitar in front of everyone. Travis had mentioned to me earlier that he heard Bryan singing in the shower that morning and it was like nothing he had ever heard from a male voice live. The performance had many people in tears, including Megan.
Megan and Bryan were fantastic to work with and completely organized but I can’t forget to thank Brynn from First Look Events for her help throughout the day. I can’t wait to share so many more images from their Rembrandt Yard fall wedding with them and their families in the coming days.
