Olivia and Kyle have been dreaming of this day for quite a while. Like many others, the pandemic forced them to reschedule. They still wanted to get married and decided that tying the knot on the same day that they got engaged would be the perfect way to commit their lives to each other. They planned the perfect winter micro wedding in Aspen.
I met the two of them shortly before their first look at The St. Regis Aspen Resort. Seeing the tears roll down Kyle’s face when he saw Olivia was a small reminder of how much I love what I do. Capturing those moments for a couple means everything. We took a few photos with their dog, Marshall, before heading up the Silver Queen Gondola for the micro ceremony on the Aspen wedding deck. The fog rolled into the area which made it feel like we were above the clouds. After a few howls, vows and saying “I do,” Olivia, Kyle and their small contingent went over to Sundeck for fireball shots. The day was the perfect mix of a wedding and day on the mountain with friends.
Olivia had her dress bustled to accommodate her ski boots which was the most Colorado thing I saw all day. Without missing a beat, Kyle, Olivia and some of their friends set off down Aspen Mountain in a complete whiteout. Weddings are never perfect but I strive to capture the honesty in each and every wedding day. Without the pandemic, they would likely never have such a unique image to look back on.
I had a wonderful time photographing this winter micro wedding in Aspen and can’t wait for the big party they’re going to throw when it’s safe to do so. Congratulations you two, it was a pleasure.
