Mallory and Daniel’s September Snowmass Cottages wedding last weekend was the prefect representation of their personalities, style and love for Colorado. Daniel enjoys fly fishing and the two of them fell in love with the venue after spending so much time in the area.
It has been a busy seven months for Mallory’s parents Richard and Janice as they watched all three of their daughters get married in 2017. During his opening remarks, Richard made sure to note that his only reservation about the cottages was that it was “quite a schlep” from Denver (and the East coast) but after seeing the whole day come together he felt nothing but joy.
I knew that their wedding would be fantastic to experience and photograph because their Georgetown and Loveland Pass engagement photos were breathtaking. They’re incredibly comfortable together and nothing is forced which is wonderful to witness. On the wedding day Mallory was excited but a little nervous and Daniel appeared calm and collected as he always his.
Travis flew in from Chicago to document the day with me and while I was with the ladies, he photographed Daniel and the guys. One of the best things about a wedding at Snowmass Cottages is that they have facilities to get ready, host a ceremony and reception. I know Mallory loved that she could put on her dress in the main cabin and then walk down to the river for the ceremony. We even shoot all of the portraits on site so it made for a seamless day.
They opted to skip a first look so they could have a traditional moment together as Mallory walked down the aisle. There really is something about that moment that is special to photograph. The light was fantastic down by the river for their ceremony and it was even better for their portraits together. Fall in Colorado is hard to beat and their wedding day was picture perfect.
Mallory is a professional pianist so live music was huge part of their reception. The live band had everyone on the dance floor all night. Several of their friends got on stage to sing and even Daniel took the stage to play drums with his band Hang Rounders for a small set.
I hope this won’t be the last time that I get to photograph a Snowmass Cottages wedding. Thank you both for allowing us to document your day.
