Winter Engagement in Dillon, CO | Kayla & Scott

I had a great time hiking in the snow with Kayla and Scott for their winter engagement in Dillon earlier this month. They’re originally from the midwest but have come to enjoy exploring Colorado’s high country. I figured they would be game for something more adventurous so I had them meet me at Dillon Reservoir where we trekked out a few hundred yards on the frozen water. A few of the ice fisherman gave us some precarious looks as we marched past them but once out of view, we had practically to whole area to ourselves. We chased a bit of sunlight and hiked along one of the nearby ridges before driving up to Loveland Pass.

It’s always chilly and windy this time of the year up on the pass so I tried to work quickly. They didn’t hesitate when I suggested a location in thigh deep snow, though we were all freezing by the time we got back to the car. Twilight was quickly setting in so I set up for a few final photos and only lost one of my two yaktrax in the snow. There is something magical about being atop a mountain pass at that time of the day. Congratulations you two!

  • Winter Mountaintop Engagement | Amanda & Weston

Things typically slow down this time of the year so it was a nice change of pace to meet up with Amanda and Weston for their winter mountaintop engagement on Loveland Pass. It was a quintessential bluebird day with gorgeous light so we couldn’t have asked for much more. We explored the west side of the pass for a bit and did our best not to get stuck in any of the snow drifts. Once the light started to fall behind the ridge we moved over to the east side. They were so easy going that it made my job easy. I kept chasing different pockets of light and they’re no stranger to the mountains and altitude so we were able to capture a variety…

  • Colorful Engagement Photos in the mountains | Mallory and Daniel

Colorado is known for breathtaking views in the Rocky Mountains and the scenery didn’t disappoint for Mallory and Daniel’s Georgetown and Loveland Pass Engagement Photos earlier this week. Daniel actually proposed to Mallory after one of her piano concerts near the Georgetown Loop Railroad so I was excited to photograph them in a location that meant a lot to both of them. I truly believe that the more meaningful the location for an engagement session, the better the images can be. I typically start things off at a bar so everyone can loosen up but since we were chasing light I opted to bring them some beers in a cooler so they could enjoy them during the session. Mallory and Daniel didn’t need any liquid courage and…
