Shrine Pass is a drivable mountain top engagement photo location that features epic views, summer wildflowers, evergreen trees in a quiet environment.
Not to be mistaken with Vail Pass, Shrine Pass is a wonderful location for engagement photos. For the easy option you can just drive a little over two miles up the dirt road from I-70 to the trailhead. Here you’ll find views of the Tenmile Range, open meadows and lush forest. There is even a outhouse at the parking lot.
If you’re up for an adventure, the 4.5 mile out and back hike up Shrine Ridge climbs well over 1,000′. I wouldn’t recommend it for flatlanders but the hike will reward you with lush meadows and expansive views of the Holy Cross Wilderness, Gore Range and Ten Mile Range. The area is also known for being one of the best locations for wildflowers in the state. Typical peak season for the wildflowers here is late July to early August, depending on snowpack.
