Winter Mountaintop Engagement | Amanda & Weston

Things typically slow down this time of the year so it was a nice change of pace to meet up with Amanda and Weston for their winter mountaintop engagement on Loveland Pass. It was a quintessential bluebird day with gorgeous light so we couldn’t have asked for much more. We explored the west side of the pass for a bit and did our best not to get stuck in any of the snow drifts. Once the light started to fall behind the ridge we moved over to the east side.

They were so easy going that it made my job easy. I kept chasing different pockets of light and they’re no stranger to the mountains and altitude so we were able to capture a variety of scenes in a short time. It can be chilly on the pass so moving around helped us from getting too cold.

After we finished their session up we met over at 6th Alley Bar for a beer and caught up with all their wedding planning. They’re getting married at Arapahoe Basin next fall and the venue was also hosting their wedding tasting for all the couples this year so we could kill two birds with one stone. An exceptional dinner and getting to ride the chairlift under a full moon in calm conditions was such a special way to cap off a fantastic day.

I had a great time hiking in the snow with Kayla and Scott for their winter engagement in Dillon earlier this month. They’re originally from the midwest but have come to enjoy exploring Colorado’s high country. I figured they would be game for something more adventurous so I had them meet me at Dillon Reservoir where we trekked out a few hundred yards on the frozen water. A few of the ice fisherman gave us some precarious looks as we marched past them but once out of view, we had practically to whole area to ourselves. We chased a bit of sunlight and hiked along one of the nearby ridges before driving up to Loveland Pass. It’s always chilly and windy this time of the…

  • Winter Keystone Engagement | Jessica and Mike

Last weekend I met Jessica and Mike up in a snow covered Summit County for their winter Keystone engagement. The area has been receiving epic amounts of snow all March long so we hoped that it would look like a winter wonderland and it absolutely did. We shared a beer at The Baker’s Brewery in Silverthorne before driving east in search of spectacular views. We arrived to find several feet of snow blanketing the area which made for a challenging adventure but some great moments along the way. Jessica and Mike were so much fun to photograph because they embraced everything about the experience. They laughed throughout the day, often as I sank thigh deep in the snow. I especially loved her red wool coat…
