I can confidently say that Sharon and Nick’s TenMile Station wedding in Breckenridge was one of my favorites of all time. We were welcomed with open arms from the moment we walked in the door by each of their families and that feeling didn’t change the entire day. I had a feeling that it was going to be a spectacular day because I had a blast shooting their engagement photos in Golden Gate Canyon State Park earlier in the week.
TenMile Station is one of the best mountain wedding venues in Colorado thanks to spectacular views, amazing service and its proximity to the charming town of Breckenridge. Located on Peak 9 of the Breckenridge Ski Resort, the ceremony site looks out towards Boreas Pass and the reception space has the room to accommodate even the largest weddings.
Travis and I each started in separate locations in town to document Sharon and Nick getting ready. While Nick quietly prepared with his father, Sharon and the rest of the ladies were eating, drinking and listening to music as they got ready at a large AirBnB. When Sharon and I got into the car to drive up Boreas Pass for their first look I could tell that she was a little nervous. When they saw each other for the first time, the emotion poured out of both of them. They had so many things going on in their heads that I’m not sure they even noticed the gorgeous backdrop behind them.
When we arrived at TenMile Station I checked the weather on the Dark Sky app as I always do and could tell that it was going to rain at some point but we had a small window to work with. Sharon and Nick’s friend and officiant, David, got guests seated quickly and we’re all glad that he did. Their ceremony was fantastic to witness and photograph all the laughter, tears and every emotion in between. Just after they raised their arms in triumph, the sky opened up and the rain began to fall. It was perfect timing and we have David to thank for that.
Nick grew up in Haiti and his family was out on the dance floor in full force throughout most of the night. It was a hilarious site to see family members commandeering the DJ’s laptop to play some of their cultural music via YouTube.
We were fortunate to have a gorgeous mountain venue and killer light but the trust that Sharon and Nick had in Travis and I is what allowed us to capture the day in moments as a photojournalist does. They treated us like family and that made all the difference. It will be hard to forget this TenMile Station wedding in Breckenridge.
