Last week after photographing the Denver Broncos season opener I made the drive west up I-70 with Travis to Vail for Becky and Brian’s Piney River Ranch wedding. The next morning Mother Nature greeted us with blue skies on our walk through Vail Village over to The Lodge at Vail where both wedding parties were getting ready. The ladies had a great view of the mountain while they did hair and makeup. Travis was with the guys a floor below for most of the morning but called me down to help give a bow tie lesson since they were having some trouble.
Piney River Ranch is almost an hour up a bumpy dirt road from the village but thankfully the view doesn’t disappoint. Our state has some gorgeous views, especially as the aspens change color in the fall. When we arrived at the ranch Becky and the ladies finished getting dressed while Brian hiked out towards the Gore Range with Travis for their first look. When they finally got to see each other for the first time Brian’s body language said it all. It was a wonderful moment to witness with such a gorgeous backdrop behind them.
The ceremony was equally as beautiful from the deck at the ranch. They had many friends and family travel from around the country to be there and they were treated to one of the most scenic wedding ceremony locations in all of Colorado.
The views just don’t quit up there so after dinner, speeches and first dances they snuck out into a canoe for a moment together on the lake as the sunset illuminated the Gore mountain range behind them. The temperature drops quickly when the sun goes down so before long they paddled back in and joined the party. The band, HomeSlice, kept the part rocking and dance floor full all night long.
We’ve been talking about their amazing day for a week straight and are so grateful to have met their families and documented everything that happened. I can’t wait to get back to Vail for another Piney River Ranch wedding soon.
