Joe contacted me a month ago to share his proposal plans and after having a drink with him and hearing more about their story, I knew this would be a memorable one to capture. Hayley’s family are CU Boulder alumni and have had a suite at the stadium since she was a kid. It’s a place with so many memories for their family so it was the perfect place to propose. Much like myself, Joe is a visual person (and incredible videographer) with a keen eye for the moment. We have, somewhat unknowingly, worked alongside each other at Denver Broncos football games for years. His attention to detail for this proposal was second to none which excited me the more I heard about it. I throughly enjoyed working through the process with him and Hayley’s reaction (an obvious “yes”) was the cherry on top.
I laid down behind the first row of seats in the North end zone while my colleague and friend Adam was above me on the concourse capturing everything on film. I was able to capture two different perspectives of the moment by using a remote camera down below me. The moments seemed endless as Hayley began to realize that she was not at Folsom Field for the imaginary Black & Gold Gala, but all for her. As they often do at Buffs football games, her family held a banner out the window that read, “she said yes.”
They soaked it all in with their families in the suite and drank champagne. As the sun screamed in over the mountains and rain began to fall outside, they remembered a pet they shared and celebrated their new puppy, Dory. The emotional roller coaster was incredibly raw and real. Being part of days like this fulfill me to my core.
If that wasn’t enough, we were treated to quite the sunset over the stadium.
Congratulations you two and thank you for letting me be part of this special moment that I know you’ll never forget.
