Fall Golden Engagement | Coza & Joel

As fall approaches, it was still quite warm for Coza and Joel’s fall Golden engagement photos last week. The higher temperatures have prevented the trees at lower elevations from changing into all their gorgeous hues yet. We were determined to find some color for their session though because like myself, they’re also Colorado natives and fall colors are a great aspect of the state.

They have a ton of fun together and are self proclaimed nerds like myself so we had a fantastic time during their session. Joel is so sweet to Coza and she deserves it because she’s a teacher. I have so much respect for that profession and as my dad says, “it’s the most overworked, under paid position in America.”

We met up at Cannonball Creek Brewing for a proper round of hoppy suds before wandering into downtown Golden. There are several excellent locations for engagement photos near near Golden like Lookout Mountain which I have shot before . After capturing more of the small town feel we drove west up through Coal Creek Canyon and into Golden Gate Canyon State Park. We were fortunate that the sun peeked through the clouds when we made it to the top of Gap road where I had scouted a small grove of colorful aspens earlier in the day. Scouting locations in advance is the best thing that I can do for my clients because it helps us be more efficient with our time during an engagement session.

When the light quickly disappeared we made some fun twilight images. One of my former brides Krista is now a photographer and she joined us to help hold a light during this time. It was great having her there because I was a little under the weather and she kept the energy high throughout the session.

Thank you both for allowing me to photograph your fall Golden engagement. I’m looking forward to you wedding next June at Space Gallery in Denver.

  • Colorful engagement in Golden Gate Canyon State Park | Sharon & Nick

Sharon and Nick’s colorful engagement in Golden Gate Canyon State Park near Golden, Colorado was an absolute stunner. These two were complete naturals in front of the camera and had a blast together throughout the entire session. Combine that with two hours of screaming light in the park and this is a session I won’t soon forget. They live in Kansas City and are getting married this week at TenMile Station in Breckenridge so I was glad that they were able to find some time for their engagement session between everything else that they have going on. They visit Colorado a lot so they were excited to shoot in the park outside of Golden which is quickly becoming one of my favorite engagement locations to take couples….

  • Breckenridge Boreas Pass wedding | Heidi & Frank

Frank and Heidi live in Minnesota’s Twin Cities and wanted a change of scenery for their special day and decided to have a Breckenridge Boreas Pass wedding with all their family and friends. Can you blame them? As a Colorado native I’m completely aware of how beautiful the state is but I hadn’t experienced the top of Boreas Pass until I Trent asked me to help document their wedding day. After the ceremony downtown we ventured up the dirt road on Boreas Pass despite the cold, windy conditions in search of the perfect Colorado backdrop. Heidi’s face lit up when we asked if she would be willing to climb on top of the deserted box car at the top of the mountain. Shortly after they…
