ENGAGEMENT LOCATIONS

Crested Butte

Updated onOctober 21, 2021

Home / Engagement Locations / Colorado / Crested Butte

Crested Butte is one of the most beautiful small towns in all of Colorado, making it an ideal location for colorful engagement photos.

Located about about 4 hours by car from Denver, Crested Butte is a great location for engagement photos because it's not as popular as some of the other locations along the I-70 corridor. This small town is known for mountain biking in the summer and skiing in the winter but I think it's an ideal place for engagement photos.

While CB is known for the annual wildflower festival, I think the fall is when it really shines. The area gets nearly 197 inches of annual snowfall which allows the aspen trees to thrive throughout the region. The aspen groves blanket the hillsides in a way that looks different than any other location in Colorado. Sure, Maroon Bells may be more iconic but Crested Butte earns my pick of the place I love photographing engagement sessions in Colorado.

Mount Crested Butte, downtown Crested Butte, Washington Gulch, Snodgrass Mountain, Peanut Lake, and road 317 all feature gorgeous backdrops perfect for photos.

Please stay on the trails, leave no trace and be kind to others you encounter.

WHY WE LOVE IT

It's hard to make a bad photo in the entire Crested Butte area. This is easily one of my favorite places in all of Colorado for engagement photos because the fall colors can't be beat.
