Alex got down on one knee outside of Union Station on Saturday night and proposed to Sierra on what is sure to be one of the best birthday weekends she’ll ever have. Her reaction was raw, full of pure joy and excitement. There were tears from both of them as the moment begin to set in. It was so special and I’m glad that Alex asked me to photograph his downtown Denver proposal.
He has been planning this for some time, all while they both live in Oklahoma. With some help from their friend Mattie, Alex got in touch with me a few weeks ago share his thoughts on how it all would go down. I’ve photographed countless engagements at Union Station but never a proposal there so I was thrilled to help capture the moment. I provided some some insight having proposed myself a few years ago. I didn’t want him to have to think about two much so that he could concentrate on Sierra and making that moment special. As they say, he hit his mark, dropped down on one knee and the rest is history.
I stayed back to allow them time to soak in the moment and when they were ready Alex turned and pointed me out to Sierra. She was ecstatic to have had the moment documented. We then spent the next hour taking some photos in and around Union Station. I loved when she asked me “can we go take some pictures in front of the Christmas tree?” They were incredibly excited and I think all three of us were operating on adrenaline for the time we spent together.
It’s deeply rewarding to capture images that mean so much to lovely people like Sierra and Alex. This was a downtown Denver proposal that I’m not going to forget. Congratulations you two!!
