  • Trappers Turn Golf Course wedding | Nicole and Elliott

Nicole and Elliot’s Trappers Turn Golf Course wedding featured one of the best fireworks shows that I’ve ever seen. They clearly do it big in Wisconsin Dells and considering that Nicole is from the Dells it makes total sense that she married a man from Texas because as Elliott will tell you, everything is bigger in Texas. The fireworks show was definitely the highlight of the day and was a huge treat for all the guests because they had no idea what was going to happen when the MC asked everyone to head outside for a special surprise. Nicole and Elliott were eager to get a unique perspective of the show and walked down onto a bridge along the 18th hole of the golf course…

  • City Flats Hotel wedding | Ali & Hutton

Ali and Hutton’s City Flats Hotel wedding in Grand Rapids was a great big party as evidence from my favorite photo above. The City Flats Hotel was a blast to photograph because the ballroom had a balcony and vivid lighting that made everything pop. Their guests knew how to have a good time and danced the night away so we were able to create some great images that they will love for generations. Grand Rapids is home to Founders Brewing Co., so I was looking forward to the trip to Michigan to photograph a new venue and also find some time to taste world class beer straight from the source. I hope my travels take me there again soon. You can see more of their…

  • Allerton Park Wedding | Megan & Manfred

Earlier this year I traveled to Champaign, Illinois for Megan and Manfred’s Allerton Park wedding alongside Travis. We joked that weddings have taken us on the BIG 10 school tour because we have seen Northwestern, Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan State over the course of the season. I hadn’t been to Champaign before so I was excited to photograph a completely different city and venue. Allerton Park is affiliated of the University of Illinois and considered one of the seven wonders of Illinois. It features a grand mansion on the property that encompasses a large garden and park. The image above is one of my favorites from the day because Megan always seems to be laughing when Manfred is around. I’m not sure if it’s his…

  • Fall Denver Museum of Nature and Science Wedding | Amanda & Cuyler

Yes, Amanda & Cuyler are back on the blog for their fall Denver Museum of Nature and Science wedding from this past Saturday. Travis joined me as always to help document the day from start to finish and what a day it was. If you missed their downtown Denver engagement photos be sure to check them out. Amanda showed up with a small army of amazing friends to help set things up and of course drink a little bubbly before getting into her dress. Meanwhile, Cuyler was at the hotel sipping on whiskey with friends and practicing his vows. I know this because Amanda showed me a hilarious Instagram post and a text message on her phone. I could tell that put her at ease because…

  • Summer Farm Wedding in Lyons, CO | Meghan & Jeremy

This past Saturday, I traveled north to photograph Meghan and Jeremy’s Lyons Farmette wedding. It’s a wonderful vintage venue near Boulder which makes it easy for guests. Their day was one of the most laid back weddings that I’ve documented in a while but there were tons of moments to be had. Mother Nature played nice and although Jeremy’s pants ripped before the ceremony, one of the bridesmaids quickly mended them with fabric glue, which is the first time I’ve seen that at a wedding. The Farmette is quaint but provided an excellent backdrop for the wedding. One of the unique features of the venue is the Airstream trailer that plays host to the bridal prep. It will be hard to find a more unique room…

  • Ross and Emily’s Golf Course Wedding in Sedalia

We had a blast documenting Ross and Emily’s Sanctuary Golf Course wedding. I photographed another wedding that Emily was a part of a couple years back and was honored Ross and her thought of me for her big day. The ladies started hair and makeup just down the street from my loft in LoDo at Luxe Salon which meant that I got to walk for a change. While I was there, Travis was at the course with the guys while they got ready It was an overcast, chilly fall day but the covered gazebo and gas heaters did a nice job of keeping everyone during the outdoor ceremony. We managed to mount a remote camera high inside the gazebo that provided a great angle for their…

  • Grand Hyatt wedding | Marika and Dean

It’s a great honor when a friend asks you to photograph their Denver Grand Hyatt wedding. Marika has been reminding since we were in college together that she wanted me to document the day so when she and Dean planned their Grand Hyatt Denver wedding I was grateful that she thought of me. I seem to have been adopted by the Greek Orthodox community because this wasn’t my first Greek wedding and I’m hopeful that it isn’t my last. I feel like family at every one that I do because they treat me that way. As a result, people let their guards down and I’m able to capture some great moments. The Assumption of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Cathedral is one of my favorite places to photograph…

  • Morton Arboretum Wedding | Marjorie & Brian

Last week I traveled to Chicago for the first of several times this year to help my close friend and fellow photojournalist Travis document Marjorie and Brian’s Morton Arboretum wedding. Getting to work with someone you know really well is a huge advantage because we often know what the other is thinking and as a team we can capitalize on making the best photos possible. It’s really no different than any other assignment that I work on in a team environment. When I’m the second photojournalist I don’t have the luxury of having met the client and having a relationship with them so I have to work even harder to develop a rapport with them and their family rather quickly. Being one of the bros…

  • Steamboat Springs wedding photographers | Carlyle & Michael

In 2006, while studying abroad in Rome, my interest for photography grew to a point where a group of friends convinced me that it was something that I should really pursue. Not only was Michael one of those friends, he was my roommate. This wedding meant a little bit more to me. A quick conversation about his engagement, his new wonderful gal and the upcoming wedding happened during a round of golf last fall, and I’ve been looking forward to documenting their day since. Fast forward to 11am on Saturday at Catamount Ranch Club and I thought all that build up was going to get muddled by the weather. Josh and I showed up a few hours early to get the photobooth set up but…
