Brittany and Jaden’s wedding at Bruce Spruce Ranch outside of Pagosa Springs was a joy to a part of. I photograph lots of weddings in Denver and the mountains but this was my first time working in the southwest corner of the state. From the moment Michael and I arrived we felt like part of the family. Jaden’s family has owned the ranch for four generations so it was a fitting place for such a special day.

I’m not sure that I’ve ever seen a bride enjoy her day and laugh more than Brittany. Her personality was infectious and everyone around her was just as happy. There were almost as many tears as laughter throughout the day. As much as a wedding is a joyous occasion, it’s also an emotional one that deserves being documented in a way that tells the whole story.

Shortly before the ceremony began, smoke from a nearby prescribed burn hovered over the valley where the ranch sits and hid the blue sky out of sight. While that was unfortunate it also meant that the impending sunset and blue hour created rich tones in the sky for a few portraits with the newlyweds.

They had a blast on the dance floor and the impromptu fireworks show over the lake was the perfect ending to a spectacular day. I’m so glad that we could be a small part of their big day. Congratulations you two!!
